As the melodic framework in classical Indian music, the Raag is defined as the act of ‘colouring or dyeing the mind with any feeling of passion, especially love, affection, sympathy, intense desire, interest, joy or delight’. – With this concert Mahadev Cometo & Master Margherita will integrate this definition of a Raag within a more open and syncretistic approach. Using modern instruments to blend technology with the original vision of a traditional Raag.
The color of Raag Marva will stimulate the listeners to go beyond their boundaries, and navigate in a deep meditative state, abstract yet deep, very much similar to free jazz or western experimental music. The musicians on stage will thus have the possibility to open into improvised noises and explorations, to travel into experimental territories but always keeping a strong melodic tone.
Precursor, lover of new auditory formulas, this enlightened musician edits his sonic metamorphosis solo and tickles the substance considered as the seat of intellectual faculties. His ingenious dub’n’bass improvisations send us to those unexplored parts of the brain. Royal, magnificient, Master Margherita over ows with intelligent creativity and excels in the production of concrete abstraction. Obstinated, hard worker, this speculator of electronic sinuosities could relate to an action painter, totally invested in a daring artistic elaboration, revelatory of new dream spaces.
As a member of The Young Gods for more than 20 years, Alain ‘Al Comet’ has been a defining influence on the industrial sound of the 80s. Leaving the Gods in 2014, he decides to turn his energies to his own evolution. Having broken through the sound-barriers of sampling, he alights on the pure ancestral sound of the Indian sitar under the name of Mahadev Cometo offering us an entirely new sound experience.
